Ronald Reagan, age 93, passed away today after a 10 year battle with Alzheimers Disease.
Frankly, I read on Drudge, that this was coming, but nothing prepared me for the actual news of his passing. Ronald Reagan was truely a great American. He defined eternal optimism and what patriotism should be. His radical change in policy in regards to the Soviet Union, forcing them to crack under the departure from Detante to Star Wars and a huge military buildup. His demanding that the Berlin Wall be torn down, and all the other wonderful things he did, he will be remembered.
It might be said that Ronald Reagan will go down in history as on of the 20th centuries greatest presidents, and nothing could be further from the truth. Reagan’s rise to the presidency marked a return of patriotism, usered in an age of growth and prosperity not seen in any other modern time. His detractors will point out his scandals, Iran – Contra, a 3 trillion dollar deficit, and others, but ultimately I will remember Ronald Reagan for what he did for this country and the world.
Ten long years battling Alzheimers had to take its toll on the whole Reagan family, so my best wishes goes out to the whole Reagan family and thier friends, that his struggle is finally over and he is in a good place… Rest in Peace, Ronald Reagan.
Alex King has put together some good tips for starting bloggers… I’m guilty of not following a few, like apologizing for not posting, not that I was feeling self-important, but more like feeling guilty for having a blog and not having any posts on it π
Also, I’ve made a committment to get more involved in the “blogsphere” as Alex said. WordPress has given me a renewed positive experience that MoveableType just couldn’t provide. Not sure exactly what it was, maybe the constant rebuilding of static pages, that brought servers to their knees?
Anyway, if you read this blog and want to start your own blog, read Alex’s tips and get involved. If you need hosting, find cheap webhosting, register a domain name and post a comment or two!

Wolves win, down now 3-2 and force a sixth game back in L.A.
Monday night will be a win and/or go home. Win and the Timberwolves go home for game 7, lose and they just go home.
It’s been a good series, and Monday night’s game is bound to be an exciting contest…
I urge you to please, please keep your computer system clean. Get educated on Virus, Trojans, Spyware, Zombies, and the like…
First of all, viruses… or Viri…
Get a virus scanning software package and install it. Keep it up to date. Norton Antivirus and Mcafee Antivirus are two contenders, but there are alternatives, TrendMicro offers one. F-Prot and Grisoft also offer virus scanning programs.
Running without Virus scanning is really dangerous…
Couple rules about avoiding virus infections:
1. Don’t Open Attachments!
2. Don’t Download programs that claim to be free or hacked versions of commercial software
3. Use alternative browsers and email clients like Mozilla’s Firefox and Thunderbird
4. Get a firewall and/or a Router.
There are several software firewalls that can limit access to and from your computer. I recommend Zone Labs Zone Alarm but Norton offers one, and there is a basic one built into Windows XP.
Also, if you have a broadband, highspeed, always on connection, get a hardware firewall/router like the ones Linksys offers.
As for spyware, there are several free tools to remove spyware… First of all, head to SpywareInfo.com for the latest information on Spyware and use there online spyware removal tool to remove any spyware. Other spyware removal tools are Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-aware.
Finally, if you suspect you are infected with a virus, you can do an online virus scan at Antivirus.com. This will try to remove any infected files. Also, keep your operating system up to date with the patches and security fixes they offer. Use autoupdate or visit the update site often.
If you do get infected, don’t panic, pull the ethernet cable, and seach out support. Always backup your data and change your passwords often. Be safe!
Flip Saunders said, “We’ll foul Shaq 50 times, if that’s what it takes.”
What a horrible strategy… Even with like 18 fouls committed against Shaq, the Timberwolves still couldn’t stop the Lakers from taking a 2-1 lead in the West Conference Finals Tuesday night.
Hopefully the Timberwolves will be able to pull one out in L.A. and tie the series on Thursday night. Otherwise, it’s looking like the Lakers will win this series and end up in the finals.
The other thing that’s upsetting me about the reputation of the T-wolves is there desire to brawl. Minnesota is known as the state of hockey, but this shouldn’t spill over into basketball.
K.G. and the T-wolves will have their work cut out for them in upseting the Lakers Thursday night, but at least we’ll have another game in Minneapolis on monday (I think).

Well, I finally did it, thanks to a sale on domain registrations at GoDaddy.com I registered Patrickstuart.net, Patrickstuart.Org, and Patrickstuart.US to secure the rights and redirect to this site.
Patrick Stuart is my name, I’ve been involved in the internet and its predeccessor FidoNet and BBS’s since 1988. I don’t sell anything here… I do put up Google Ads mainly as a way to offset the cost of hosting this site (if anyone would ever click on those Google Ads) and also because I think Google Ads and their Adsense offset context relative ads and links based upon what I post.
I have a renewed focus on posting some details and thoughts of the goings on in my life. I realize that some people might accidently hit this site because they are looking for information on that guy from Star Trek (spelled Patrick Stewart) who doesn’t have a website. Or they might find it through looking for another actor James Patrick Stuart, but again, he doesn’t have a website either. Sorry if you feel mislead or that I’m leavaging traffic based on this name. This name is mine, its what I was given, and I like it. As my hair slides further and further back (I refuse to acknoledge its receding π ) the Jean Luc-Picard / Capt. jokes are hitting home a bit but there is no way anyone would confuse us if we met on the street.
Anyway… The purpose of this post was to let the world know that Patrick Stuart.com/.net/.org/.us all belong to me and point to this site.
The Minnesota Timberwolves won their game last night against the Los Angeles Lakers, tying the series at 1-1 for the semifinals for the NBA championship.
Tuesday night, the third and pivotal game will be played in Los Angeles and should be a great game. It’s a classic David vs. Goliath, underdog T-Wolves taking on the pre-destined Lakers and proving that they can win at least one playoff game and maybe more.
No matter what, the T-Wolves have proven they are now a serious contender, and that this series against the Lakers is bound to be probably more exciting then the finals… Who ever wins, it will be a hard fought battle to the end… Baskets will be made, fists have and will fly, and only one team will advance to the finals…
President Bush apparentely took a spill while mountain biking… A few scrapes and scratches but nothing major…
However, rumor has it (according to the DrudgeReport) that Democratic Presidental candidate John Kerry stated, “Did the training wheels fall off?”.
Now, supposedly this was off the record, or at least not on the record and the reporters aren’t reporting the comment. Ignore that for the moment and lets think about what would have happened if Kerry were President and fell off his bike…
Had Kerry fallen off the bike, we would have mandatory bike helmets, elbow pads, knee pads, must have federally licensed insurance to ride a bike and pay a per use tax every time your ride a bike.
But that’s not all…
You must ride a federally inspected bike, which requires inspection every year. You must have a federal ID to ride a bike with special certifications after extensive testing to prove that yes you can ride a bike.
Oh and if you can’t afford a bike, several government overfunded programs will provide a bike for you if you can prove you make under $18,000 a year. These federally provided bikes will be made by the lowest bidder, probably from somewhere in China, someone who funded Kerry’s campaign, but this will never be uncovered because it was buried my reporters.
So the bottom line is, do you want to ride a bike?
Funny post over at mtdewvirus about being a WordPress Junkie.
I clearly have caught this bug and just converted my wife’s blog over to WP now as well.
